Combatants: Japanese vs. Russians
Location: Tsushima Strait
Outcome: Japanese victory
Over the course of May 27th and 28th of 1905, a Japanese fleet commanded by Vice Admiral Hiehachiro Togo decisively defeated a Russian fleet under the command of Admiral Zinovy P. Rozhdesvenski in the Strait of Tsushima. The Russians lost eleven battleships, five cruisers, and six destroyers to Japanese losses of three torpedo boats. Russian casualties were approximately 10,000 in killed and wounded compared to the Japanese loss of less than 1,000. This humiliating defeat effectively ended the Russo-Japanese War.

Points of Interest:
Admiral Zinovy P. Rozhestvanski was wounded on the first day and replaced by Admiral Nikolai Bebogatov, but the battle was already lost by this point.
Russia would sign the Treaty of Portsmouth less than four months later in which it surrendered control of Port Arthur, Manchuria, and Korea to Japan.
